Itchy, blotchy skin (because of medication?)?

I'm taking minocycline for acne and I have been for about 2-3 weeks now. Up until yesterday, no problems. But yesterday I started feeling very itchy and i started getting blotchy all over my body. An effect of an allergic reaction to this drug is itchiness... Could it be possible that I am allergic to it even though nothing happened for the first 2 weeks? I'm supposed to take 2 capsules per day, should I stop for a couple days and see what happens? Advice please? .

I use foundation. Covergirl has a big selection. Before you put the foundation on, I would recomend you moisturize your skin (with some lotion) 20 minutes (or 10 at least) before applying so the foundation doesn't get patchy.

cures for red blotchy skin?

I dont really have an acne problem, I mean I have the normal once in awhile breakout that most people do. But my problem is that I have very blotchy red skin. Exspecially around my cheekbone area and nose. I can cover with make-up just fine, but rarely do becuase I hate putting make-up on. I dont really know what kind of skin i have, it's not real oily and is only dry for like an hour when I wash it (with whatever soap I use). I would just like to know if there is any cheap easy, natural way of getting rid of this.

maybe you have eczema? either way...make sure when you wash your face, it is with COOL water. do NOT use hot or warm water. it should be cool. not cold... just cool. the hot water aggravates the "break out" even worse!! also, i would buy Cortisone Cream. They sell it over the counter in the supermarket. it's usually a tube with red and white writing on it. you may have some food allergies that is causing this that you are not aware of. it might only happen after you eat certain foods. i have eczema and usually i get red and splotchy after i eat eggs and wheat. if washing your face with cool water and putting cortisone on doesn't help... go see a dermatologist. oh, also, by the way, the face wash i use that i swear by is Aveeno Foaming Facial Cleanser. It's the Aveeno foam cleanser with the bright green top. It's the only thing that i have found in the 30 years of my life that has "calmed" my skin down. It's 6.99 or 7.99 ... and it is soooo worth it. just know that nothing will ever truly 100% eliminate a skin problem.. it will only lessen it and make it occur less frequently. i really hope this helps. i've been there before and i know it is uncomfortable. good luck! all the best :)

what kind of foundation is best for dry combination skin?

Hey everyone, my forehead is generally a little oily but not unmanageable, my chin is where I break out the most- I've learned to deal with this and manage it to the best of my ability. My biggest problem is the random dry patches on my cheeks, bridge of my nose, under my nostrils, and parts of my jaw. It makes applying makeup so difficult. I exfoliate every morning and moisturize as needed without over doing it. But by the time my makeup is put on you can see the dry patches (flaky skin..ewww...), it's start's to look cakey in areas and blotchy in others! It's so frustrating, no matter how sheer I put it on! I don't want to have to spend a lot of money on new makeup.

I have dry/oily skin also, and I found a lotion that works extremely good. Clinique Moisturizing Gel is amazing. You only need a little bit and it makes your skin soft with no dryness. If you do happen to get it though, make sure it is the gel, it works better than the other product.

The skin on my face is awful. It's quite red and blotchy where spots used to be, and gets oily very quickly. Can anyone recommend me to try anything?

Answer

Hi. Try a toner- this reduces the amount of oil your skin produces. This one by Good Skin has had good ratings from the press- it's a bit more pricey than your average toner- but I find it works a treat, mattifying your skin: http://www.superdrug.com/invt/491654 Also, i've found a corrector cream (which evens out your skin-tone)- it's pretty cheap. You can find it at the "17" cosmetics brand at boots- i'm sure it's just called "Complexion corrector/ even tone" or something. It's about 3.99. This evens out your skin tone. Drink lots of water and cleanse your face twice a day- and if this dries your skin out, use an oil-free moisturiser (try this: http://www.superdrug.com/invt/69175) Hope this helps! (:

Im getting so annoyed with my make up! It just never seems to look right! My spots seem to glow through red within an hour of applying it, and it goes blotchy around my lips and just generally! HELP ! Thank you xxx

Answer

Ahhh, perfect and flawless - what we all strive to achieve. Unfortunately, that's not completely possible - you have to have the ILLUSION of perfect. You do realize that models are not perfect. Many of them are airbrushed to perfection. Anyway, that's not what you want to know, ...so how to go about getting that illusion.... First, start with a fresh clean face one that you take super good care of daily. How to do that... Wash twice daily, once in the pm to clean all the dirt, impurities and make-up of the day and once in the am to start with a fresh slate. Next, when you moisturize, be sure to wait 20 minutes before you apply any foundation. It doesn't matter how much money you spend on foundation or moisturizer - if you don't wait to let the moisturizer absorb into your skin - you will not have a good surface in which your foundation will stick around. Next, apply your foundation with a moist (NOT wet) sponge, and make sure you do one section at a time and blend into the next section (forehead, nose, chin, cheeks each their own section). Blend up and out towards the other sections (except on your nose, blend down and out towards your cheeks) - be careful around your hairline you don't want a build up there. Then with the same sponge go back over the "red" areas and just dab - don't rub or blend, just dab a little bit to blend in, but cover the red. After that, use a loose powder close to your foundation shade or a slight be lighter and go over your whole face using light downward strokes (the direction your facial hair grows). Finally, when you are all done, if you want to, you could spritz with Model in a Bottle. Makes any make-up (cheap to expensive) last longer.

Critique my poem please?

Inspired by the love i noticed between my friend and her baby. Honest feedback please :) Possum-like, curled in foetal slumber A mess of peach And blotchy salmon flesh Milky residue washed across a smile In gurgling retrospect An embryonic butterfly awakes Pupils dipped in lavender And eyelids ever still The immediacy of doll-hands And rosy, modest cheeks Of which could never outlive The curious union we expect Bloated limbs contract and release Liquid skin pacifies thirsty hands And that organic tryst Which pre-prepared, alarms neither Reveals the nature of mother And the clarity of child .

First of all, Kay is not right in her head, pay her no mind. This poem is beautiful, surprisingly great. I was moved and I am very critical. It was expressive and vivid and it built to a fantastic climax and then ended meaningfully and perfectly summarizing the authors feelings in a very unpretentious and unselfish way. I can say nothing bad about this poem. You are to be commended. Keep up the good work.

Is there any makeup companies aimed at Redheads?

It's so impossible to find good makeup for redheads and it makes me mad. Lots of companies are aimed at blondes and brunnetss mostly. The mascara is always too dark for me. NO ONE sells brown mascara only black and dark black (is there a difference??) And since most redheads have fair skin and blush easily, foundation looks really weird. I look all blotchy if I miss places. Please help me, is there any good makeup companies aimed or have makeup for redheads? Hold on lemme correct myself. The only brown I can find is brown and it is still too dark for me. I am only 11.

The stores I go to only sell black, dark black, charcol black, midnight black, noir black and fashion black. Trust me, my mom and I have looked hard and surely havn't missed it.

Answer

Loreal makes brown mascara, so does maybelline. It tends to be closer to the floor when you look at the make up wall at the drugstore. What youre saying about foundation applies to anyone who applies it badly. Try cover girl trublend foundation - its the only one that has worked well for me as far as matching my blue AND yellow skin. Good luck

By the end of the day, my foundation is blotchy and my face is shiny?

I put my foundation on, and some powder over it in the morning. It looks great for a while, but when I get home, it's a disaster. My face gets really shiny and my foundation looks blotchy. I don't even have oily skin, so I can't explain the shine. And as for the blotches.. it looks like I'm wearing foundation on some spots, and some spots I'm not. Whyy does this happen? Like I said, I don't have oily skin. I use the Acne-Free System twice a day. I take really good care of my skin. It's not really hot where I live, so heat isn't really a factor.

The foundation I use is L'Oreal True Match- I apply it with a foundation brush, because it gives a really even application. Then I apply NYC Smooth Skin Loose Powder with a kabuki brush. It looks good after I do it, but when I get home... ugh. How can I keep this from happening? I don't think it's the foundation or powder I use, because this happened to me with my other foundation too. Would a primer help? The blotting sheets are a good idea- I always thought they'd take your makeup off. Thanks. Anyone else?

Answer

I have the exact same problem! I hate reapplying my makeup during the day, so when I can I use Clean and Clear oil blotting sheets. They take away all of the shine, without taking your makeup off. I switched to a mousse foundation a while ago, and that helps a lot. Bloom has a great one, and so does Neutrogena.

some hair loss possible Mange?

my dog a little over one year old has been having some hair loss on his back legs which cleared up with a bath. He has always had dry skin and has been treated for yeast before but come to find out it is an allergy to laundry detergent. He still has dry skin though and has been losing hair around his mouth on the one side only and the area is red. He still has a little bit of red blotchy dots on his underarms in the front but nothing like it has been in the past. Could this possibly be mange or is it likely an allergy to something in the house? http://www.

Answer

You need to take him to the vet for a skin scrape to correctly identify if it is mange. His mouth issue could be the yeast recurring again. Does it smell bad? If so it could be yeast.I use Maleceb Pledglets (I may have spelled that wrong) for my dog's recurring yeast infections. He gets it around the mouth and in between his toes. But without a skin scrape it is difficult to self diagnose. Mange can and will spread so I would go as soon as possible.

i've gotten rid of the acne...now what am i supposed to do with what's left?!?

so i used to have what i considered pretty bad acne. but now that i'm in college and i see how it can really rip someone's skin apart, i know mine wasn't that bad. however, my skin is very light and sensitive, and the acne has left scars, AND when i get the occasional breakout, it's VERY red! my skin is blotchy and it looks like i still have skin problems, but there are hardly any pimples. is this an after-effect that will eventually go away? or is there something i can do about it. haha oh yeah i'm a girl.

I would wash your face with glycerin soap, rinse with cool water and pat dry, I would use witch hazel as an astringent. Since you have light and sensitive skin I would use a small amount of moisturizer that is free and clear of dyes and perfumes. You do not state whether you are male or female. I would wait to see if the scars fade in time if not you discuss your options with a dermatologist at a later date and time. Hope this helps you.

Sorry to hear all this sad memories, I can imagine how you feel.Because of lack of attention, love and care you grew up thingking that you are an outcast and feel differnt from the others...well you are not...and you are not alone in this whole wide world to have this kind of physical and emotional problems... What your having right now is that your body has develope in a way that your nurition, enviroment and upbringing combined has resulted to all these... You develope very low selfesteem because you got no support, love and care...as you said that you are a hardworker since you are a kid..this contibuted also with lack of proper nutition. Well, the best thing is go and have your self check up with a therapist and physician....they might be able to help you clear up. My prayers is with you... Remember you still have the chooice to make a differnce in your life no matter what age you are in now..its not too late yet!Take care.

I would find something that does not contain many chemicals. Try using something organic, like the Greek line Korres, or something with no fragrances in it. If you do have dry skin, you should consider using a moisturizer after you wash your face. Hope this helps!

How can I fix the white spots and uneven color from Mystic Tan?

I went to the tanning salon, got detailed instructions and followed them before using the Mystic Tan with Bronzer. So, I applied the barrier cream to my hands, feet, and nails. Wore the hair net properly. Then I entered the Spray Tan machine. I stood there with my hands above my head, turned and did the same when instructed by the machine. I got out, toweled off, rubbing instead of blotting. Then I washed my hands and all seemed okay. A couple hours later it got darker. I then started to notice my right arm had a huge white spot running from my wrist to my elbow.

I then started to notice my right arm had a huge white spot running from my wrist to my elbow. When I woke this morning and took my first shower I noticed my back side of my body had a nice smooth even "tan" but my front side was blotchy in many places. I am leaving for a vacation in Vegas in a couple days and look like I have some kind of skin problem on my right arm.. definitely not what I was hoping for. The rest of my body can stay covered up. Any hints on what to do to fix that one spot. Or should I continue to bathe, shower, and exfoliate like crazy until it comes off (solution courtesy of internet searches).

Answer

Go to the drugstore and buy spray tan in a can-Neutrogena-makes a good one-spray the uneven spots-I stopped using Mystic Tan-and just use this-alot more convienent and less expensive

Answer

I would try ProActiv to get rid of the acne; also make sure you wash your face 2-3 times a day. In the morning, you can apply foundation to even out your skin tone and concealer to hide blemishes. Bare Escentuals has amazing powders. They don't clog your pores, and it's easy to find one that matches your skin color. I know Sephora carries their products.
